April 22nd is the National Day of Cystic Fibrosis
In each edition of the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Marathon, a charitable cause is chosen as the main beneficiary of all the charity funds raised through the Marathon and its accompanying events. The array of contributions helps to build the event and to focus the fund-raising efforts of the runners and the organization itself. These donations and contributions reinforce the social aspect of the MVTA, translating into a real difference in the lives of those in need.
For the 2015 edition of the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon the “Asociación Fibrosis Quística de la Comunidad Valenciana” has been chosen as the main beneficiary of charitable donations raised by the event. The Cystic Fibrosis Association is a nonprofit association founded in 1985. Being set up by people suffering from cystic fibrosis, relatives and friends dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by cystic fibrosis and their families in the Valencian region.
Just today, April 22nd, is celebrated the National Day of Cystic Fibrosis. A date where improvements and aid for access to the latest treatments on those affected are claimed, it will control de disease and improving the quality of life for those suffering it.
Cystic fibrosis is the most common serious genetic disease and it is estimated that have an impact on our country around one in 5,000 births, while one in 35 people are healthy carriers of the disease. In recent years there has been progress in the knowledge and treatment of the disease but, nevertheless, it remains as a disease with no cure.
