Cystic Fibrosis Association will run the Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon
The Valencian Cystic Fibrosis Association and the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half marathon will bring running and good causes together this October. On the 18th of October a pair of runners selected by the Cystic Fibrosis organization will run the race representing their organization. The two runners will be raising awareness and lots of money throughout the 21.097,5 meter Valencian race.
The special part of this agreement with the Cystic Fibrosis Association is that in the final kilometer of the race members of the association will be allowed to join the 2 runners on the track and run the final part of the Half Marathon with them. One of the runners hoping to finish the race is José Vicente Escudero Carrero. José is affected by Cystic Fibrosis, he will make the journey form his home in Aranjuez to take part on the big day.
This action hopes to show off the energy and goodwill of the members and volunteers of the association. Many of the members joining the last kilometer have cystic fibrosis; 1 km may not be a long distance for many people, but for a sufferer of cystic fibrosis it is a huge physical effort. The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon salutes all the heroes of the cystic Fibrosis association who will be crossing the line on the 18th.
The final Km is the culmination of a whole year of fundraising and preparation for the half marathon. The race and related activities will raise a lot of money for the association to help improve the members’ lives.
The association will be wearing a T-shirt that has been especially designed and made for the event. The T-shirt will be emblazoned with the slogan: “Mi aire, tu meta” (Your goal, my pace).
The final KM will be a busy place when the 2 runners complete the full race and the members join. The association will also be filling out the ranks of supporters cheering all the runners on. The association is well known at the marathon for being numerous, loud and cheerful. The association brings the members and volunteers but also friends and family.
What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic Fibrosis is a hereditary genetic disease that affects the lungs, especially in young people and kids. There is no cure for cystic fibrosis but those affected by cystic fibrosis need care and help to lead an active life.
