The Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich has now sold more than 70% of the bibs available for next year’s race after opening registration today to the general public following a one-week preferential period for participants in 2024, who have shown great loyalty to the event.
The opening to the general public of registration for both the Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon has generated so much interest that at some points as many as 36,000 people were in the waiting room (a system to avoid overloading the website). In the case of the Valencia Marathon -at the time of going to press- more than 70% of the places available to run in the city of running on 7 December had now been filled.
For 2025, both races have maintained their capacity and maximum number of runners. In the case of the 21K this remains at 25,000 bibs, while the Valencia Marathon has made a maximum of 35,000 bibs available for runners.
Loyal runners
Since 4 December and until the opening to the general public, everyone participating in 2024 has been able to register on a preferential basis. This is an exclusive period through which the organisers, SD Correcaminos and Valencia City Council, reward the loyalty of participants every year and which, this year, was extended to runners from the towns affected by the flooding last October who had to cancel their registration.
At the time registration was opened to the general public, the marathon had almost 14,000 registered participants, a figure that shows the loyalty of the runners to the Valencian race, as nearly 38% of the 42K runners want to repeat the experience in Valencia Ciudad del Running in 2025. This is much higher than last year’s figures, when more than 30% were repeating the marathon. This preferential period also closed with 44% of registrations coming from Valencian runners.
Paco Borao, president of SD Correcaminos, said he was overwhelmed by the reaction of the runners: “To be trusted by the runners is a wonderful thing, but what happened today is unbelievable. No one would ever have imagined it, neither young nor old. Thank you very much all of you for choosing Valencia for your challenges”.
Charity organisation for 2025
With the opening of registration for next year’s race, the voluntary charitable donations the runners make to the race’s charity have also begun and, in the case of the marathon, the charity will be Fundación Pequeño Deseo.
