Female enrollment soars in the Trinidad Alfonso Valencian 10K which accompanies the Marathon
The passion for running continues to spread across the world and more and more women are deciding to put their running shoes on and to start adding kilometers to their legs! Valencia and its 10K Trinidad Alfonso race, which is held prarallel to the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon, has noted a significant change in its statistics: as of today women at the starting line will outnumber men.
This 10 kilometer trial which completes the big party held in Valencia for its Marathon, held on 25 August, so far has 1,406 female participants. This number of runners represnts 54.93% of the total number of current registrees (2509) which has already guaranteed its presence for a fifth year. The race will again share a sart line from the Monteolivete bridge and finish at the waters of the City of Arts and Sciences, along with the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon.
In comparison with the figures from 2014, this year has already exceeded the 33% of women enrolled in the previous edition on the same dates. The increase of 347 women this year compared to last is an unmistakable sign that female participation in races has moved from anecdotal to a very significant number.
The 10k race already has male and female runners from 31 different countries, among them some are on the other side of the Atlantic including Canada, Brasil, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Mexico, and these figures are sure to increase as the weeks pass.
