The Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon becomes more international every year.
Just one month after opening the registration process for the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon the feedback could not be more positive. On the opening day of registration the first 1,000 early bird registrations were sold out in just two and a half hours. The total number of registrations in the first day reached 1600, almost 16% of the total amount of runners that participated in the 2014 edition. There are still 7 months until the starting pistol for the fastest 21 KM in Spain and the sixth fastest half marathon of all time.
The benchmark set by the 2014 edition has created a great expectation in the international market, for this reason more runners every year are coming to Valencia to beat their half marathon personal best on the fastest course in Spain and one of the fastest in the world. This has been demonstrated by the amount of international runners that have already signed up in the first month of registration. Almost 7% of the runners registered in the first month come from outside Spain. This creates a special atmosphere at the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon, the event brings together cultures and nationalities that reflect the prestigious international reputation that the race rightly deserves.
After analyzing the initial registrations form outside Spain we can see that the Dutch lead the table, followed by the British, the Italians and the Belgians. The reputation of the Valencian Marathon as a place to smash your PB has arrived as far as the United States, Brazil, Venezuela and South Korea. At the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon you will have the chance to run alongside people from all these countries who have already reserved their bib.
Not only will you have the chance to meet runners from abroad and Valencia, you will also have the chance to meet runners from all over Spain. 13% of total registrations come from other cities in Spain such as Barcelona, Seville and Majorca. The Spanish city with the most runners competing is Madrid, in the first month alone over 3.75% of the total registrations went to runners from the Spanish capital.
Finally. We are very happy to mention that every year our numbers of women competing in the race are increasing. 20% of the current total participating in the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon are women runners. Last year on the starting line on Avenida de Puerto (Port Avenue) 17% of the total runners were women. This is not a massive increase but it is a growing trend that we hope continues into 2016, 2017 and beyond, demonstrating that the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Half Marathon welcomes all runners.
