Holland brings a flood of orange to Valencia Half Marathon Trinidad Alfonso
The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon continues to grow in stature on the international stage. The long distance running events in Valencia, organized under the brand of Valencia Ciudad del Running, represented at the premium sporting fairs of Europe have garnered much attention from the international running crowd. Once runners see the amazing setting of the course and find out that Valencia is one of the fastest courses in the world, and that Valencia is the fastest event in Spain; the runners flock to the streets of Valencia in October.
One of the finest examples of international participation is the number of Dutch runners that come to run in Valencia. After the early bird period of runner registrations for the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon that expired on the 30th of June, we can see a wave of runners from Holland that will be coming to run through the streets of Valencia. In just one group booking, the Dutch signed up 380 runners; added to the 125 Dutch runners that were already registered we now have a spectacular total of 505 runners from Holland. We expect to see more Dutch runners register when the final date for registration closes in October.
2014 was an amazing year for international runners at the Valencia Marathon, this year we have already surpassed the total number of international runners registered, and we still have more than 3 months to go until registration closes. Last year 325 Dutch runners came to Valencia, this year we have already smashed that number.
The growing number of international runners reflects the promotional work of the Valencia organization and the word of mouth between international runners who speak passionately about the Ciudad del Running and the spectacular setting of the races. Last year 7.8% of the runners were from outside of Spain, this year, with 3 months still to go, international runners make up 11% of the total. There are 35 nationalities registered as of this moment to run, and more are expected to add to this number; increasing the international flavor of the event.
In October Valencia is the place to be; blue skies, average temperature of 19 Degrees, one of the fastest and flattest marathons in Europe… and, this year the Valencia Half Marathon and Marathon were awarded the titles of best races in Spain by the Spanish Athletics Association (RFEA).
