Italian and Valencian runners enjoy together the last leg of the ‘Maratona del Mediterraneo’
In a sensational and sunny morning in Valencia Ciudad del Running hundred Italian runners ran together with 125 Valencian runners the last leg of the Maratona del Mediterraneo held in our city, a cruise which divides the distance of the marathon in 3 stages; Rome, Palma and Valencia.
The route of approximately 10,500 metres along the Turia Gardens, run by the cruise passengers and runners who decided to join the race without any cost, was from the City of Arts and Science to Cabecera Park and return to the athletics tracks in the Estadi del Turia, where the finish line was located.
Among the participants, were some of the best Valencian runners, such as Hicham Ettaichmi, Raquel Landín or Pilar Vilaplana. They didn’t want to miss the opportunity of enjoying the race and run intensively in search of the triumph.
The great atmosphere was the keynote of this Italian international meeting in Valencia. The Maratona del Mediterraneo is part of a traditional cruise which offers this specific activity for runners after having recruited participants in Genoa, Civitavecchia (Rome) and Palermo. The next edition will intend to have a previous stop in Valencia in order to recruit runners willing to run in the Italian capital and Palma de Mallorca before closing stages in Valencia.
