The Valencia Half-Marathon sets a new Women’s World Record with Jepkosgei’s victory
The Valencia-Trinidad Alfonso EDP Half-Marathon has set a new World Record for the 21,097.5 metre event. The new World Record was set by Joyciline Jepkosgei, the first woman to reach the finishing line with a time of 1:04:51.
The time is also the best ever for women in the Valencia Half-Marathon, making it the world’s fastest in this category. The new world record breaks the old one, which was also set by Jepkosgei (Prague, 2017).
“I am very pleased with this time and having broken the world record twice this year. I will keep training and running to break the record yet again“, said the Kenyan athlete.
“I hope to return to Valencia next year (24th of March 2018) to run the 2018 IAAF Valencia World Half-Marathon”.
