The Mapfre Valencia mini-marathon will be a big event for young people during the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon weekend
The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon, organised by SD Correcaminos and the Valencian government, is preparing this event to be enjoyed by all types of family. From those who are going to cheer on to those who are running, and among those, the youngest too. They can enjoy running during this unforgettable weekend with the second edition of the Mapfre Valencia mini-marathon. From the very youngest to the future marathon runners, there is a space for everyone in the Mapfre Valencia mini-marathon, a non-competitive race designed to promote sport among young people, and especially long-distance athletics.
The event will be celebrated parrallel to the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon on Saturday 14 November, just one day before the city’s big event. This is the second year the acticity is being held, and it aims to involve the whole family during the top running weekend on the Valencian calendar. This means that both parents and children can enjoy doing their favourite sport. The event will pass through the surroundings of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias sharing the start and finish lines with the marathon on Sunday, on the Monteolivete bridge.
The activity, promoted by the Mapfre Foundation and by the Municipal Sports Games from the Valencian government, will cost €1 which will be donated to the Valencian Spina Bifida Association, the 2015 Trinidad Alfonso Valencia marathon official charity. The first 900 young participants that sign up via the website www.maratonvalencia.com will participate in the event, and anyone who presents their dorsal bib number will be accreditied as having participated in the Municipal Sports Games in athletics. At the end they will all receive a medal as participants in the activity.
From 10 am, with the cadet and adolescent categories, until the end of the group of the smallest participants, younger than 5 years old, the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias gardens will be the backdrop for a different kind of marathon, but still as fun and beautiful as the one on Sunday: one for the youngest runners.
