Restaurants support the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon

plano-cocacola

Following the success of the past edition, this year Coca Cola and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, together with the Catering Federation of Valencia, will get caterers involved again in such an important event for Valencia. They will pay special attention to the specific nutritional needs of runners in the days before and after the race.

More and more restaurants will serve food adapted to the nutritional needs of runners, as well as their usual menu for companions, always maintaining the taste and quality which characterize our delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

EXCELLENT CHEFS JOIN THE INITIATIVE ‘CATERING FOR THE MARATHON’

Renowned chefs such as the brothers Andrés, Quique Dacosta, Alejandro Platero, Diego Laso and many others have joined this year again the project promoted by Coca Cola and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation which aims at attracting the attention of the runners who come to our city by paying special attention to their needs.

We want to combine tasty food with unique experiences and that is why more than 40 restaurants have joined this initiative. While the Marathon is held, the restaurants which take part in this initiative will stick the logo of Valencia City of Running on their front. Athletes will find there a special menu tailored for their sports diet.

Besides the Marathon, there are many other long-distance races that take place in the streets of Valencia and with this initiative Coca Cola and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation want to turn Valencia into a world running capital.

Photo Marathon

The Photo Marathon is a unique activity in the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon. It’s as important as the runners and their companions who go to cheer them on. This action tries to involve all the runners’ friends and relatives so that they are participants in the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon, not as runners, but as photographers…

This activity, the Photo Marathon, has already become a tradition for those who participate in the race but aren’t putting their running shoes on. The awards, designed to encourage participation, are widely distributed among the 30 finalists, 4 winners, awarded to specific thematic photos and gifts received by all participants.

The time and the place doesn’t matter. From the start in the morning, the moments before the trial, to the operation to clean-up all the remnants of the race, any photo that illustrates what the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon is like from your point of view is allowed. Because running is cool, but describing it is also a part of it.

Valencia Shopping Run

The Valencia City Trades Association (ACCHV) joined forces with the Valencia-Trinidad Alfonso EDP Marathon some years ago to ensure that both runners and non-runners got the best out of the event both along the circuit and throughout the rest of the city.

This year, it is again holding a shop window display competition whose theme is running the Marathon. The competition will be held among shops belonging to the trade association.

The competition will reward originality, use of space, and the creativity and innovativeness of displays. There are five prizes, worth €500 each, the categories being:

  • Originality.
  • Design.
  • Running Theme.
  • Integration with vinyl signage.
  • Popular vote (based on the photo most shared on Facebook)*

*Chosen from the pictures of shop window displays from participants and shared on Facebook. A raffle will be held between the people sharing these pictures, the prizes being 20 vouchers worth €100 each (including taxes) to spend at any of the shops taking part in the competition.

Recycle your effort

The Trinidad Alfonso Foundation would like to reward in a very unique way the effort and the commitment the runners have shown in order to keep the city clean from race related rubbish after the event, which brings together such a large amount of spectators and runners.

With this in mind throughout the race, the runners can take part in the initiative, “Recicla tu Esfuerzo” (“Recycle your effort”). On the race day near the refreshment stations and finish line there are special rubbish containers strategically placed for the collection of plastic drinks containers and organic rubbish.

Impuls-a València

[vcr_youtube_advanced url=”https://youtu.be/7ub76lg6cpw'” width=”640″ height=”360″ responsive=”no” autohide=”yes” rel=”no” https=”yes”]
Impuls-a València is the main parallel activity in the Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon. The Trinidad Alfonso Foundation and the CIDIDA Foundation organize this charity event.

The fourth edition of Impuls-a València will be presented by the journalist José Luís López and it will start off with a lecture by Cristina Mitre in the conference hall Santiago Grisolía. Cristina Mitre is a journalist, writer and a lecturer. She writes for her popular blog The Beauty Mail (thebeautymail.com), and she has already published two successful books: Mujeres que corren: todo lo que necesitas saber sobre el running (‘Women who run: everything you need to know about running’) “Correr es vivir a tope de power: lecciones vitales a golpe de zapatilla” (‘Running is living life to the fullest: vital lessons on running’).

Mitre also started the social movement ‘Women who run’ in Spain and Portugal, which aims at promoting sports among women and raising funds for childhood leukaemia research.

After her lecture, the documentary Km. 0. Correr, vivir, cambiar…Empezar de nuevo (‘Km. O. Run, live, change… Start again’) will be screened.  This documentary is set in the 5K Circuit of Jardí del Túria, where many runners have shared their experiences and stories since it was opened a year ago. In the documentary, runners tell us about the importance of running and the impact it has had on their daily life.

All tickets sales will be donated to the charity chosen by the Marathon.
