Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon, 10K and Half Marathon increase participation of Athletes with disabilities by working with Federation of Adapted Sports Spain
The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon, 10K and Half marathon, organized by Correcaminos Athletics Club and the Valencian Government alongside the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, are stepping up their already world class organization to ensure maximum inclusivity for all athletes.
The agreement signed with the Federation of Adapted Sports (FESA) is a huge progressive step towards being one of the most inclusive running cities in the World. All athletes are encouraged to take part in the Valencia 10K, Marathon and Half Marathon.
Key decisions have been made to ensure that registration and racing is simplified for athletes with disabilities and to improve the event facilities and services. The three key improvements are:
- All athletes with disabilities will have a 50% discount on their race registration fee. This discount is only available by applying through FESA and falls under all pricing periods and policies.
- Athletes can compete in the 4 adapted categories. These are: wheelchair, impaired movement/muscle power, sensorial impairments and intellectual impairments. These 4 categories have their own classification and prizes for the first 3 places in each category and sex.
- Athletes that are blind or visually impaired (B2) have the right to a guide, this service is 100% free. This service must be applied for through FESA.
This agreement and commitment from the race organizers foments participation and inclusivity of all types of athletes and people who wish to participate in Valencia. The support and coordination services of FESA means that athletes with disabilities are guaranteed excellent service, assistance and support. The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Marathon,10K and Half Marathon warmly invites all athletes to come to Valencia and participate in our amazing IAAF Gold Label races in October and November 2016.
