The Valencia Marathon has become the best race in the history of Spain
The Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon, organized by SD Correcaminos and the Valencia City Government, has received an award for best race in the history of Spain according to the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA). The race has been awarded IAAF Road Race Gold Label this year as well and for the first time in Spain it has received more than 3,000 points in the RFEA scale.
The main parameters measured in this scale are: organizational capacity, time in RFEA Calendar, number of participant athletes, race sports level and the level of the athletes who compete in each edition. In order to choose the best race in Spain, first the average of the parameters is calculated and then the average of the last three editions.
The Trinidad Alfonso EDP Valencia Marathon has been elected as the best race in Spain, both in the marathon category and in the general one. It has scored 3,008 points, which is the highest score a certified race has ever achieved in the history of Spain. As for the marathon category, it is followed by Seville and Barcelona.
The Half Marathon also comes in first
The Trinidad Alfonso Valencia Half Marathon, organized by SD Correcaminos , has also achieved the highest score in the 21,097.5 metre race category with a total of 2,100 points in its last edition. With an average of 2,583 points, the half marathon maintains its leadership for the third consecutive year, followed by the Asics Madrid Half Marathon and the Mitja Marató Barcelona.
The parallel 10K comes in third
As for the Trinidad Alfonso Valencia 10K, this race has also mounted the winners’ podium and it comes in third in the ranking of the best 10,000 metre races according to RFEA.
Hence, the fact that the best races in Spain take place in Valencia and that many runners choose this destination to enjoy a popular race proves that it is the ideal city to do sports.
